We are born with a health account, just like a checking or savings account. We either make deposits into that account, or we make withdrawals. In our health account, good water is a deposit - a soda is a withdrawal. Oatmeal is a deposit - sugared, chocolate flavored cereal is a withdrawal. Fresh wild fish is a deposit - hot dogs made from mystery meat are a withdrawal. We all know what happens if we make more withdrawals than deposits in the bank: we become overdrawn. The same thing happens in our bodies. The more withdrawals we make in the form of junk food, smoking, couch potato-ism, etc., the more our bodies have to struggle just to maintain proper functioning. Yet when we make more deposits in the form of healthy, nutrient-dense, live foods, fresh filtered water, exercise, prayer and meditation, we are prepared to handle the pollutants, stress and excesses of our high-tech society.
Are you someone who has tried an herb such as Golden Seal and felt that it did not work for your intended purpose? We would like to educate you in the areas of herbs, nutrition, vitamins, wellness thinking and healing.
First of all, herbs always work as they were created to work!
One idea that we would like you to understand is that, although herbs and vitamins can have medicinal qualities and effects, they are not pharmaceutical drugs. Drugs are simple, inorganic substances derived from synthetics petrochemicals. They have single targeted effect to treat a symptom of dis-ease. Drugs do not create an environment that the supports the body in self-healing. They have no natural nutrients. Herbs, however, supply vitamins, enzymes, minerals, energies and phyto-nutrients. They are complex, organic foods designed to be used by the body as they are needed.
Herbs are a whole plant. Do you eat the parsley from your plate? Or the raw garlic with your French bread and olive oil? Encapsulated herbs include the whole plant or plant parts: root, berry, leaf, bark, seed, hulls and/or flowers. These are prepared by carefully picking, drying, grinding to powder and placed in capsules. Here the herb is free from contamination. Although buying herbs in bulk is cheaper, they oxidize faster and there is no way to know if they have been contaminated by outside sources. Oxidation weakens the medicinal properties. Bulk herbs in containers allows moisture and air with every opening of the lid, not to mention bacteria from people?s coughs, hands, etc.
Herbs have proven effective on humans for thousands of years. Herbs are ?God?s medicine?, provided for our use. Herbs are complete foods, containing enzymes that allow for proper assimilation by the body. Our human body is far more intelligent than we realize. It uses herbs exactly where they are needed first, regardless of what we chose them for.
I believe that you can, by taking some simple and inexpensive measures, extend your life and your years of well being. My most important recommendation is that you take vitamins every day in optimum amounts, to supplement the vitamins you receive in your food. Linus Pauling, Ph.D.
Vitamins are quite different from herbs. Vitamins have been separated from the whole food. This may mean that trace minerals, enzymes or other phytochemicals are missing for the complete assimilation of that vitamin. Vitamins are concentrated food. Because of this, they can be helpful in extreme deficiencies. Additionally, the more refined and manufactured the vitamin is, the more closely it resembles a drug. Many vitamins are completely synthetic, like drugs, and have either no effect or possibly, side-effects.
The vitamins we use in our healing center are all natural vitamins, minerals, and also whole herbs.
The critical point to remember is that herbs are food. Our goal in health is to change the environment in the body. Bacteria, viruses, parasites, yeast: none of them can flourish in a healthy environment. By giving the body proper fuel, or food, or herbs, we change the environment and build up a reserve.
